SoRi (Sophie Richard) is a visual artist born in 1979 in the south-east of France. Always attracted to drawing, her artistic talents soon began to stand out: at 13, she was given the mission of painting frescoes on the walls of her college, her first opportunity to work in acrylics and inks. At 18, she began studying fashion design in Lyon where she discovered her passion for the work of the material. The material, precisely, is what awakens his senses, and SoRi transmits it to us through his œworks: textures, patterns, Wax fabrics, gilding … There is only Watch Africa Wax and Women in Turban closely to feel the call of touch.

Beyond the material, the influence of textile design is also felt in the artist's creative process: from an original first work, SoRi creates a whole series of works that are part of the same collection. As in the fashion world, SoRi organizes its œworks in the form of “lignes ” (Africa, Women artists ...). What do they have in common? The representation of women painted by a woman, in a still predominantly male art world.

SoRi is not afraid to explore different techniques: from painting to graffiti, through textile art and the use of stencils, this versatile artist is inspired by several artists . Her influences are wide, from the early Arts through Hokusai to that of the twentieth: notably Frida Kahlo (for the artist but above all the strong and free woman), Gustav Klimt, Niki de Saint-Phalle, Pierre Soulages, Keith Haring (inspiration found in the Frida triptych), and of course his contemporaries such as Miss Tic, Raf Urban, or C215.

Without ever ceasing to explore different forms of visual art, for 20 years SoRi devoted herself full time in teaching young people with atypical profiles. This challenging job brings her unparalleled satisfaction when, despite the difficulties, she manages to bond with these young people suffering from behavioral disorders. As she says herself: “Everything is possible when the link is created ”. And his art
is also a way of bonding. What SoRi loves above all is to immerse himself in the other's universe to make tailor-made works. Communicate, understand each other, share a vision, in short, create a link between the commissioner and the artist, to result in a unique pictorial work.
